The Secretary General of RPF Inkotanyi, Hon. Christophe Bazivamo, together with the Deputy Secretary General, Hon. Stephen Gasana, this afternoon received Mr. WANG Liyong, Director General of the China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS) under the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (IDCPC), who was accompanied by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Rwanda, Amb. Gao Wenqi, and members of his delegation.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on ways of further strengthening the longstanding relations and cooperation between RPF Inkotanyi and the Communist Party of China. Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, including culture, education, research, knowledge sharing, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two sides also highlighted the importance of continued exchanges and dialogue between the two parties as a platform for sharing experiences and learning from each other, particularly in areas related to development, governance and institutional cooperation. Previous engagements between the RPF and the CPC have included discussions on development experiences, modernization and governance, reflecting an established framework of party-to-party exchanges.
The discussions come as Rwanda and China continue to deepen their broader bilateral relations. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1971, and their cooperation has expanded over the years to cover education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, technology, trade and investment. In 2024, Rwanda and China elevated their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Education and people-to-people exchanges have also become an important component of the relationship. In 2026, China has continued to provide opportunities for Rwandan students and professionals through scholarships, specialised training and other capacity-building programmes.
The engagement between RPF Inkotanyi and the Communist Party of China therefore provides an additional platform for strengthening institutional and people-to-people links, while creating opportunities for further cooperation in culture, education, research and the exchange of development experiences.
The meeting reaffirmed the interest of both sides in maintaining regular dialogue and exploring practical areas through which the existing party-to-party relationship can be further strengthened. Recent contacts between RPF and CPC representatives have similarly focused on expanding exchanges and identifying practical avenues for advancing cooperation.
