President Kagame Attends 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week to Strengthen Rwanda-UAE Ties

The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, has arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to participate in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), a global platform dedicated to advancing sustainable development initiatives.
According to the Office of the President, Village Urugwiro, President Kagame was welcomed by the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan.
Rwanda and the UAE maintain strong bilateral relations across various domains. In March 2019, the UAE inaugurated its embassy in Kigali, following discussions with Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and East African Community Affairs aimed at enhancing partnerships.
These talks resulted in agreements to promote Rwanda’s higher education and vocational training. Additionally, a visa-waiver agreement was signed, allowing Rwandans on official duty or holding diplomatic passports to enter the UAE without a visa.
In October 2019, Rwanda reciprocated by opening its own embassy in the UAE, further solidifying diplomatic ties between the two nations.
