The Ministry of Youth and Arts, in collaboration with key stakeholders in Rwanda’s entertainment industry, convened a high-level consultative meeting with event organizers, DJs, artist managers, music producers, and other industry players to discuss strategies for building a safe, value-driven, and internationally competitive entertainment sector.
The dialogue focused on strengthening professionalism across the industry, establishing clear standards for entertainment events, enhancing the safety and security of audiences, and fostering stronger collaboration among stakeholders to support the sustainable growth of Rwanda’s creative economy.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Youth and Arts, Sandrine Umutoni, emphasized that while Rwanda’s entertainment industry continues to expand, it must remain firmly rooted in the country’s laws, values, and cultural identity. She called on all stakeholders to work together in developing quality standards that will ensure entertainment remains professional, safe, and aligned with Rwanda’s long-term vision.
The spokesperson of the Rwanda National Police, ACP Boniface Rutikanga, encouraged event organizers to play an active role in promoting responsible entertainment among young people. He stressed the importance of cultivating positive behavior and civic responsibility while also reinforcing inspections to ensure the quality and safety of alcoholic beverages served during entertainment events, thereby protecting public health and maintaining security.
Closing the discussions, Utumatwishima Jean Nepo Abdallah commended participants for their commitment to the development of the sector. He noted that professionals in the entertainment industry have a significant influence on society and urged them to uphold high standards of dress, conduct, and professionalism. He said these qualities are essential in positioning Rwanda as a destination recognized for elegant, secure, and high-quality entertainment.
The consultative meeting reflects the Government of Rwanda’s continued commitment to nurturing a vibrant creative industry that not only drives economic growth and youth employment but also promotes national values, public safety, and excellence on the global stage.
