On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the Rwanda Security Support Organ (DASSO) operating in Karongi District donated a cow to Uwihoreye Solange, a survivor of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, residing in Bwishyura Sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bagaruka Fabrice, the DASSO Coordinator in Karongi District, stated that the initiative is part of their commitment to supporting government efforts aimed at uplifting vulnerable citizens and promoting sustainable development.
He said:
“It is our tradition to support vulnerable members of the community. Every year, DASSO engages in community support activities, including building houses for the underprivileged and other development-oriented initiatives. Today, we have donated this cow, valued at over one million Rwandan Francs, including insurance coverage. The funds were raised from our own salaries.”
Uwihoreye Solange, the beneficiary, expressed her deep gratitude and joy:
“I sincerely thank DASSO for this generous support. I have land that is fertile, and this cow will provide manure to improve my farming. Most importantly, my children will now have access to milk and improved nutrition.”
Mrs. Umuhoza Pascasie, the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs in Karongi District, commended DASSO for their compassionate action and urged the beneficiary to take good care of the cow:
“First of all, I would like to appreciate DASSO for this noble and loving gesture. We encourage the beneficiary to look after the cow properly so that it brings long-term benefits, and in the future, she too can pass on the support by donating a calf to someone else in need.”
This valuable activity was carried out by DASSO using nearly one million Rwandan Francs, which they collectively raised from their salaries.
