For the 2026/2027 fiscal year, the Karongi District Private Sector Federation had set a target of collecting Rwf 30 million in membership contributions.
However, the Chairperson of PSF in Karongi District, Ntwari Janvier, revealed that they had already collected Rwf 70 million within a short period, more than double the initial target.

Ntwari Janvier, Chairperson of PSF in Karongi District, attributed this achievement to strong cooperation and guidance from President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame.
He said:
We owe this achievement to the cooperation between the private sector and the District leadership. We worked together to mobilise private sector members and help them understand their role in national development and the contribution they can make. We were inspired by the advice of His Excellency the President of the Republic, who constantly encourages us to work hard and strive for self-reliance.”
He explained that the achievement was made possible through a membership registration exercise that significantly increased the number of contributing members from approximately 500 to more than 2,500.
He added:
We first conducted a registration exercise for private sector members. Previously, the number of registered members making contributions did not exceed 500, but today it has increased to more than 2,500. Another important factor is embracing the advice of President Paul Kagame, who constantly encourages us to think big, broaden our perspectives and believe that everything is possible when people are committed.”
Urimubenshi Aimable, who represents the private sector in Bwishyura Sector, expressed satisfaction after his sector was recognised as the best contributor, having raised more than Rwf 25 million out of the RWF 30 million target set for the District.
He said:
This is the first time we have reached such a level. Previously, our contributions did not exceed Rwf 5 million. I would like to thank my fellow members for the cooperation they demonstrated, which enabled us to achieve this milestone.”

Mutagoma Félix, representing the Private Sector Federation at the national level, commended private sector members in Bwishyura Sector for their commitment to making a significant contribution, describing it as an exceptional demonstration of their willingness to participate in building the country.

He also praised the strong cooperation among private sector members in Karongi District, which enabled the District to rank first among all districts in the Western Province. He noted that Karongi was also performing well at the national level, adding that an opportunity would come to formally demonstrate this achievement.

The Mayor of Karongi District, Muzungu Gerald, thanked private sector members for bringing pride and recognition to the District.
He said:
Following a meeting held in Rusizi some time ago, our District was among those ranked at the bottom. We left that meeting determined to move to the top positions, and today we have achieved that goal. I sincerely thank you for the cooperation we demonstrated together, which enabled us to become the best-performing District in the Province and the country, while our Province also ranked first nationally.”

The Governor of the Western Province, Ntibitura Jean Bosco, also commended private sector members in Karongi District for bringing honour to the Province.
He said:
This demonstrates that when people work together, everything is possible. However, we should not become complacent, as this achievement should motivate us to perform even better. The partnership between the private sector and Government is something the Government highly values. The Government cannot do without the private sector, and the private sector cannot do without the Government. I assure you of our continued cooperation, effective collaboration and consultation.”

Ruganda Sector ranked first in fulfilling its contribution target, having collected more than Rwf 1.1 million against its target of Rwf 1 million.
Rubengera Sector was also awarded a trophy for having set the highest contribution target of Rwf 15 million and exceeding it by collecting more than Rwf 16 million.
The event concluded with the recognition and appreciation of all individuals whose contributions and commitment made this achievement possible.
